Hardy Type Inequalities Related to Degenerate Elliptic Differential Operators
We prove some Hardy type inequalities related to quasilinear second order degenerate elliptic differential operators Lpu := −∇ ∗ L(|∇Lu| ∇Lu). If φ is a positive weight such that −Lpφ ≥ 0, then the Hardy type inequality c ∫ Ω |u| φp |∇Lφ| p dξ ≤ ∫
متن کاملQuasilinear elliptic inequalities on complete Riemannian manifolds
We prove maximum and comparison principles for weak distributional solutions of quasilinear, possibly singular or degenerate, elliptic differential inequalities in divergence form on complete Riemannian manifolds. A new definition of ellipticity for nonlinear operators on Riemannian manifolds is introduced, covering the standard important examples. As an application, uniqueness results for some...
متن کاملKrylov and Safonov Estimates for Degenerate Quasilinear Elliptic PDEs
We here establish an a priori Hölder estimate of Krylov and Safonov type for the viscosity solutions of a degenerate quasilinear elliptic PDE of non-divergence form. The diffusion matrix may degenerate when the norm of the gradient of the solution is small: the exhibited Hölder exponent and Hölder constant only depend on the growth of the source term and on the bounds of the spectrum of the dif...
متن کاملGlobal Irregularity for Mildly Degenerate Elliptic Operators
Examples are given of degenerate elliptic operators on smooth, compact manifolds that are not globally regular in C∞. These operators degenerate only in a rather mild fashion. Certain weak regularity results are proved, and an interpretation of global irregularity in terms of the associated heat semigroup is given.
متن کاملExistence of solutions for quasilinear degenerate elliptic equations ∗
In this paper, we study the existence of solutions for quasilinear degenerate elliptic equations of the form A(u) + g(x, u,∇u) = h, where A is a Leray-Lions operator from W 1,p 0 (Ω, w) to its dual. On the nonlinear term g(x, s, ξ), we assume growth conditions on ξ, not on s, and a sign condition on s.
